Well,being a very well-travelled person, who visited and LIVED in many countries, I am finally proudly announcing my moving out-ta-here, after over 7 years that could be spent way better elsewhere, despite all career achievments I have made!
Here is a word about "endless career opportunities":Thing is, you must be a specific type of person to survive here...you must like licking other's asses in hopes that one day someone will lick yours.If this scenario Okay with you, then this city is truly a "land of oppErtunity"...But be prepared to face the most arrogant and demanding asses anywhere in the world.It is all about how low you are willing to go and how high you are planning to get....but not everyone may be willing to go that low.Oh yeah, in case you are an attractive female buiding a career in NYC, be prepared to fight back against those sleazy creatures they call "men" here.
However, if you are Okay with "everyday" Starbucks type of job or any job that pays below 30K,get ready to not simply survive, but find yourself way below poverty level....but wait, you still get to enjoy wonderful things like subway rides with angry low-lifes just like you....
The only place in NYC for an educated white person would be over-priced/over-populated Upper East/West Sides,filled with most arrogant republicans egos in the country. But be sure to make way into upper six figures to fit into that mold.
If you are planning to finally raise a family and have a life, this is the worst place ever.But if you are addicted to getting wasted in cheap bars in the Village and having sex with whoever is contributing to the "melting pot" after a few shots of cheap vodka (the feature lifestyle of young folks here), then this place might be the answer.It all depends on what stage in your life you are.
