Review of Phoenix, Arizona

Should be last option
Star Rating - 1/10/2020
There are pros and cons of living anywhere in the world, no place is perfect, but when it comes to choosing somewhere to live and settle down, the pros should generally outweigh the cons. That is not the case with Phoenix. For a city in the middle of the desert you would expect less traffic and cheaper cost of living, not the case. Gas here is 1$ more than the Midwest states (the states that EVERYONE seem to complain about) and you HAVE to drive here because our public transportation is a big joke, apartment and house prices have raised these past couple years because of the influx of people moving here, making it not practical anymore to purchase a house unless maybe you're fine with living an hour away from downtown. Everything is brown and beige, the houses are all cookie cutter its a true eye sore, air quality is really bad (pollution and dust), which can lead to sinus problems and overall health issues. The heat starts from late April and can last till late October as was the case in 2019 with temperatures staying in the 100s till late October. The weather for me is pretty good from November to mid April after that it's just hell. I would recommend you rethink your options before deciding to come here because there are other places that are cheaper and more practical.

Thanks for writing this great stuff, AJ. The Phoenix AZ review section really staled out the last couple months but now it's alive and turnt up! Everyone near where I live, at 16th St & _____ not too far from the light rail, they be buying up all the studio apartments real quick cos the 1 bedrooms like mine are 800$+ to boot, and that's not counting the few-hundreds coming in summer to cover the utility *air conditioning* bills just to live...

@AJ, you keep it 100% and that's what I like, unlike a bunch of the natives of Phoenox I've spoken to who have their eyes wide shut despite the insane crime rates, overtaxation in some areas, and even things like that Carne Asada fries have gotten to be like $12 after tax and that's not accounting for the fact that like $75% plus of our ingredients are imported and ain't nowhere near as good as what LA or NYC have:) The downward trend alongside the wondrously unimpressive property crime rates, breaking-ins, etc started probably well after the 2008 recession, like perhaps 2012, 2013, and areas such as Glendale, Tolleson, and bum else are still writhing with crime, drugs, pollution, and economy based on family-owned businesses and inherited businesses where few outside-lookers can get in:0. I was raised in southeastern AZ 14 years of my life and have been up here 2-3 years and it's all too obvious the downward hill things are heading. I just can't get out cos I can't afford it but having a clear head about it does make survival and up swinging that much more meaningful, no doubt!

@John, No problem, living here my whole life doesn't mean I have to be biased like some of these people writing reviews, it's just not practical to live here anymore and every year it seems to be getting worse.
