Low Cost of Living for the "Big City Enthusiast"

I am a single woman with an average income and I have always wanted the "big city" feel at an affordable cost. I am living in downtown Phoenix within walking distance of shopping, entertainment, parks & rec, the new lightrail and an amazing view of the city from my living room & bedroom windows. The cost of the apartment (1br. 760 sf) is a mere $700. The apartment complex was built a few years ago and the management company keeps it as high quality as they can, which isn't bad! I feel very safe and relaxed. I've lived in the Phoenix valley (Glendale, Mesa, Gilbert, Chandler) for 19 years and this is, by far, my favorite area!

Hi Alyse, you wrote your view about a year ago. Do you feel the same way about your apartment downtown? Can you give me some general areas downtown. I was thinking about a condo in or near downtown. I always like to hear fom the residents before I talk to a realtor.

Its nice to hear someone talk about all of the good things, and there are sooo many. My husband and I long for the day that they children are grown and the time comes that we can go back to where we belong for good. What a nice review!
