Almost all cities esp. in CA have changed from an agriculture industry to a service industry, that is not unique to Riverside. Riverside being "old" as someone recently posted is one of Riversides greatest assets. Most of the IE is cities with no personality, Riverside has both topography and architecture that make it attractive to most middle class Americans. It is not bankrupt for one thing, It has a great downtown area with an interesting history, ample middle class housing, and a diverse industry. If you want to rub shoulders with the rich and famous go live in San Fran, Santa Barb, or San Diego. You will pay out the ass for the ego trip. All of Calif. has high "middle class un-employment due to liberal government. That being said Riverside shines above and beyond compared to its neighbors (San Bernardino, Moreno Valley etc. Ps "the grass is not always greener"
