Review of San Antonio, Texas

Do the positives outway the negatives?
Star Rating - 5/22/2009
I live in the huge conglomerate of metro-Detroit and have been seeking to get out ot the "rat race". After seeing San Antonio at the top of a couple of different lists as best places to live I've been reading all your comments. At first under Hospitality "Friendly Folks" was uncannily exactly what I wanted and was happy to hear about your city until I read "Don't believe the hype" and Real life in S.A" leaving me let down because they all gave evidence, all I want to know is if someone can tell me if positives outway the negatives for a newcomer?

Hello to "do the positives out way the negatives" writer-I too live in metropolitan Detroit, and am looking to relocate to San Antonio. Would like to talk to you. Please respond to this post.

San Antonio is a great city. Just because someone took the time to put together a list of things they've 'heard' about San Antonio and presented them as fact - does not make it fact. Check it out for yourself. It is a great place to live. The reports you have heard about the economy, the culture are true. Not some unhappy flakes who just wants to vent about why they want to get out of town. Don't believe the ones who tell you not to believe the hype.

Hello Roberta, I have lived in San Antonio for 5 years now. Although some areas of San Antonio have gotten worse over the years, I still think SA is one of the best places to live especially right now. There are many military personnel who live here and I believe it is a great place to raise my 1 year old. Do the positives outweigh the negatives? I think this would have to be something you decide for yourself. To me, the positives far outweigh the negative especially with the economy being the way it is. My husband and I are looking to buy our first home together and the housing market here is great! I would suggest you look up current criteria you are interested in and see of those criteria coincide with what you want. Do you want a low cost of living, low crime rate, culture, heat, rising population? Those are the types of things I would suggest you look into.
