"Beautiful people" - not very down to earth

The main thing we don't like about San Diego (and there is a LOT to like here) is the "happenin' crowd" that you see everywhere... If you walk into a grocery store, airport, gas station, pretty much anywhere - everyone is decked out in their hottest outfit, hair completely colored and styled, make-up perfect, designer bag, etc. I find this irritating because I'm nothing like that and I feel like a schlump next to everyone else. Other places in the Country you run up to the grocery store in your sweats with hair in a pony tail, and it's ok. Here, sure, there are people in their sweats... but they're tight, sexy sweats with "HOT" written across the butt and the pony tail is perfectly coiffed! I think you get what I mean. It's not down to earth. It doesn't feel real...
