The Best Unlivable City

I'm third generation San Diegan. Luckily my grandparents amassed enough wealth to pass down and keep the family going. Collectively we own 6 houses here. Five of which are over a million dollars. Unless you inherit or somehow have a significant amount of money to put down, the home buying market is really hard to get into. Don't expect to rent here either and save up a down payment. Rent is just as expensive. So... that leaves you an effing poor person with a million dollar house. Like my friend's parents who live next to NFL players etc (or did till team left), they have a mansion, but can't afford any furniture. They live in literally an empty mansion. SO what are we doing here? My parents bought their first house in the 80s for 80k. Their second for 600k in the 00's. Nice houses in nice neighborhoods. When it came my turn to buy, starting a new family three years ago, half a mil. and its in the ghetto. Last night someone left a trail of blood on my stairs in front yard. Gunshots and murder and crime every night. We have a bullet hole in our stucco. I don't know when it's from, but after we bought. I found the bullet (This is months ago, unrelated to the blood). So I paid half a million dollars for a bloody shot up house. And this is the absolute absolute best we could afford with 65k down.
Bottom line, if you like squalor, you're a vagrant, or you're rich, this place is the absolute best. I love my city. I LOVE it. I was born here. My parents were born here. I don't want to leave. But I also want humane living conditions for my family. So I'm kind of at a turning point here. And as one other reviewer put it I would like to gain personal wealth. So... yeah. there's that.
Another reviewer said, great city if you're under 30 and are cool with roommates etc. Correct! There is a lot to do. Tons of action. Really fun city. And you can't beat the weather. It's just like living in the Truman Show. Sunny every day. Beach. Burritos. Surf. Also, the sunshine kind of fries everyone's brain. Don't hate on that. Just keep the vibe chill, and be rich. And you will love it here.
