Overall Quality of Life in San Diego

I have lived in San Diego county for a total of 18 years. Overall it is a great place to live. Since the housing prices are quite high, we have far less square feet of living area than we have had in other cities. However, due to the FANTASTIC climate, we spend more time outdoors and don't need a lot of room in the house. We now live in the city, about 3 miles from San Diego harbor and about 4 miles from the Pacific Ocean so we rarely need air conditioning and don't use the heater much in the winter(which keeps our utility bills very low). We have raised three children and found San Diego county to be a relatively good place to raise a family. There are some good schools, adequate cultural opportunities and a varied amount of natural resources for family activities. San Diego has a lot of civic pride and for the most part, people here keep the community clean and beautiful.
