Housing is outrageous but nice place to live

If you like city living and can afford to live here, San Jose is nice. It's a big city though so you have to find the right neighborhood. Family friendly places are Willow Glen, Rose Garden, Evergreen and Cambrian. WG is best in my opinion--quasi historial downtown, lots of kids, families and dogs. There is a lot to do indoors (tech museum, children's museum, Museum of Modern Art, movies, theaters, convention shows, and more) and out (lots of day hikes, community markets, farmer's markets, 40 min to beach (w/o traffic), small downtown areas for window shopping and street side cafes and coffee). Weather is mostly great. Wet winters and hotter summer. Housing and cost of living are outrageous though, and schools are not great. We are looking for a different place to live.
