I grew up here - not what it used to be......

Sadly I have to say the city has changed since the 70's... Having grown up here and went through all years of school including college and grad school, I really know the area. I now have a family of my own and live in the same town as my extended family.
This city has changed so much since the 70's I just dont believe this place is good to raise a family anymore. I dont want to leave my extended family, but the kids are being influenced all the wrong ways. Money is SOOO important. There are so many divorces here and people trying to put on a show. If you live in a nice neighborhood, you cannot drive a mini van without getting stares. Also when I drop off my kids at school, I need to dress up (high heels, maybe a tight shirt, etc). Those that dress down or drive "not the best of show" cars are in a different category. Its out of control. I can say this place is beautiful. The summers are bad but if you have a pool and are willing to pay $300/mo to keep your home cool June, July, Aug, Sept then the weather is not bad. I find that it gets tiring to see sun EVERYDAY!!! Even growing up here I would like to have an overcast day or two. I am a female and try my hardest to stay away from the pretentiousness but it is ALL around with the women especially. Very hard to be normal because your seen as a hick if you dont have flashing white (newly ZOOMED) teeth or the perkie large boobs. In fact, even the non-pretentious looking type have the boob jobs here. Many high schoolers are now getting them, crazy!!!
Also the sun is so extreme. I put on 40 SPF every day but see that I have more smile lines than those moving here from some other states. TOO much sun! It makes you wonder are they doing botox shots too, like everyone else.
A friend who recently moved here told me that women elsewhere just want to dress to look pretty but the women here what to look sexy. Very true! I see this in church too. Clevage and short skirts with heels at church no wonder there is so much divorce.
