Murrieta and Temecula are very , very similar cities.... they are less than 2% diff demographically—— from density —— to race , age , gender, married, single, school rankings , crime etc. murrieta is ranked 2nd best place to live in ca 2018 , and has been in top 20 five years running . Murrieta is also the fastest growing City in ca .... it benefits from all the wonderful shopping/wineries/lakes from their neighbors(Temecula) smaller surrounding cities .... and takes several steps back from some of the negatives ( traffic/congestion/noise/crime). Murrietas communities are further away from their shopping/restaurants/tourist attractions .... so they have less crime/bustle/traffic. The pace that murrieta is selling their homes is attracting many investors/builders ... they are all competing with higher end finishes, larger lots .... more amenities. Most of these new communities have meloroos and association fees - witch attracts people who are willing to invest in their communities,parks,schools, overall living standards of a great family community. Many people from San Diego are selling their high priced homes and taking the hour plunge/commute for a better home/quality of life for 1/2 the price. Many families from Temecula are selling and moving next door/murrieta for larger lots and higher end finishes/tech. The surrounding cities that have less of a great reputation are being bought out by developers and will quickly be just as nice by proxy. I am very pleased with both cities and all that’s growing/developing in surrounds cities! Moved from LA area. To murrieta and looove it!

I can tell the review above was written by a person in the late teens early 20's and has a very limited uneducated perspective on the world.There is nothing nasty about Murrieta and in fact home prices are soaring and most are at least $450 to $500k. You will find new beautiful developments with tons of amenities in large hoa communities.Also many single family homes in safe communities build from 2004- 2019.The newer houses are nicer of course and the average size is 2200 sq ft and many are over 3000 sq ft. The roads are being widened and many new stores being built to keep up with the housing boom and of course traffic is heavier during rush hour. The temperatures do get very hot in the summer,several days over 100 degrees but the air is dry and much more tolerable then 90 and humid elsewhere. Lots of people have pools and lots of outdoor sports,parks for kids,parks for dogs,good shopping with Trader Joes,Costco,Macy's to name a few. Its an hr to the coast or to San Diego. There is nothing bad about Escondido or San Marco's and it all depends on how much you have to spend.Yes prices are not cheep so if your focused on apartments as the prior comment was than you will see ones that are cheaper and have poorer people but if you see for a house over 500k you will find beauty and great climate.Its all a matter of perspective and it all boils down to money. Yes there are many Hispanics as there are all over Ca. and many own houses,work hard and are part of the community just as are people who are black. Its a diverse area and in fact we have several Indian reservations too which allow gambling at Casinos. The person in the prior posting was very biased and prejudiced and ignorant. So we have those too,young uneducated kids who live at home til they are 30 and work in local service jobs have negative attitudes and a entitlement attitude as many of that populations seems to have these days. Also this area is much more conservative and republican in its views than other liberal parts of Ca. In Temecula is whats known as Wine Country and the wineries are very pretty and offer fine dining and entertainment. There are ranches and horses and lots of land in that area but its very expensive as well. I would have preferred to live in San Diego but prices were too high to buy when I finally could afford to do so. Lots of families with young kids and several very good schools.I would say thats the main attraction for those raising a family is that the houses are very big,schools are good,and even a new Children's Hospital was just built.Overall healthcare is very good for those who are retired or disabled as well.Tons of jobs in construction and service industry etc. and many also many commute to larger cities for other work.
