Review of Rockl,

Suburbia at its finest (or worst)
Star Rating - 10/5/2010
Pros: Clean, lots of shopping nearby, close to Sierra Nevada mountains, safe.
Cons: Lots of traffic on side streets all day long, many long red lights, lots of U-turns required, many stores are ridiculously crowded (Costco OMG), dull monotone culture, expensive rent, hot summers, many stereotypical stuck-up rich people: not everyone of course, but out of the 3 different areas in CA I've lived and the many, many US cities I've visited people in this city are generally more unpleasant, rude, and self-serving than anywhere else. I don't think they know how awful they're acting either, but I guess that's what happens when you live in a sheltered suburban bubble for too long.

Pros vs. cons? You do the math. If you're still unsure, spend a day at a Rocklin or nearby Roseville retail store and watch how the customers treat the employees. Sickening.

Yea, Rocklin does seem to be safe and clean. I agree, the stores are ridiculously crowded, especially Costco, WinCo,WalMart...and the culture is dull and monotone. That's what happens when people are rude, snobby, and arrogant. Their personalities are monotone and they do not bring "culture" as the friedly, laid back, not in a rat race kind of people I have experienced do. Unfortunately I moved down here to be closer to a family member with a worsening condition. I hate it here. The people here are rude, stuck up, don't care about anyone else; you're right, the customers in store are so rude to employees - as if they are low life or something. I see people giving other people dirty looks as in "who are you." I've seen people of all ages looking people up and down in a rude way. This place gives just an unpleasant and uncomfortable feeling if you are a nice or laid back kind of person. The people in this area all the way from Citrus Heights to Rocklin are all the same. Just rude, uptight, and unpleasant. I wonder what people who go to Church around here are like. Everyone is always in a hurry like rats in a maze - you never actually understand that until you come from another state and live in it. People look at you like a dumbass for driving only 8 mph over the speed limit in the slow lane and they have to go around you. G forbid if you actually come to a stop and look for traffice before you turn on a red light you will piss people off and they will honk at you and speed around you when you are already going fast. They will also just come up on you before you even get a stop in at the red light and be blasting their horn at you. I met someone a few days ago who lives in Folsom who was saying her husband is dying to get out of here and find a small friendly town for all the reasons I just explained. It was such a relief to see that someone around here has the same view as me. This whole area is hell and I can't wait to get out. Being around rude and uptight people constantly is just a really uncomfortable feeling.
