Overly dominated by the University of Michigan, which impacts quality of life & housing costs in many downtown neighborhoods. The presence of the university, however, also positively impacts cultural/recreational opportunities (music & film, in particular).
Adding something of a European feel to the downtown is the Kerrytown Farmers Market & Shops, with the adjacent jewel of an intimate concert venue, the Kerrytown Concert House.
