Retired here a year ago, what a great place. We have lived in the country and in the city in 5 different states and another country and this is the best deal you will find anywhere. Very low housing and cost of living including no real estate taxes when you hit 65.Have not found any good ole boy stuff just very friendly people.And if you like water what a place over 900 miles of shoreline and you can travel to Canada or the Gulf of Mexico, wow, doesn't get any better than this.PS. Guntersville is a beautiful quaint little village surrounded by water on three sides.Also, The Bassmasters are here every year.
