Review of Holladay, Utah

Life in the 'burbs
Star Rating - 8/21/2014
I have lived in Holladay, Utah, for the last 23 years. In that time I have lived in two different neighborhoods, both of them filled with great people. I am not a member of the predominant church here and have had little proselytizing from neighbors or missionaries that are members of that church. I have made great, long lasting friendships with many my neighbors.
Holladay has been remaking itself over the last two decades. The city center has new eateries and shops. There are several art galleries and pharmacies. The Lion's club has a beautiful aquatic center and senior citizen center centrally located. Local canyons and open spaces have great trails for hiking and biking. Ballet, opera and theater are all part of the cultural enrichment offered in the Salt Lake City area. A much awaited residential and shopping mall is in the process of final planning after years of delays from recession. There is an upscale business center with hotels and eateries close by.
Bus service is adequate, with lines to the major business and educational centers, as well as seasonal lines for many local ski resorts. I-80 and Belt route 215 provide easy access to downtown Salt Lake City and the airport. Pockets of Holladay are considered walkable, but there are bike lanes on most of the larger boulevards.
The public schools in the area are some of the best in the State, with open enrollment for magnet programs.
My only complaint is the poor air quality during winter inversions.
