Georgia...why did I move here!
Star Rating - 11/1/2007
My family and I moved here from MN after the company that I was working for transferred me. We were very excited to move her and thought of the move as a "New Life". We were able to find a beautiful home to rent were my daughters elementary school is just around the corner. After working with this company for 3 months in Georgia, not even enough time to get over the debt we encored from the move, they laid me of due to lack of work within the company. Great!!! Now at first i was not scared..im a smart, and able individual. Well, I have been searching for employment for over a month now. I have gone on several interviews to never hear back. I have never in my life encountered this before. I have found the business here to be very unorganized and extremely rude. Not only was i laid off immediatly..but we also received letters that the home we are renting is going up for foreclosure. The owner never paid the mortgage since the day my family and I moved in. Now we are over a thousand miles away from home...savings gone...job gone...roof over our head is soon to be gone...just a lovely experience. I have learned that GA is infested with Con artists, and liars. I wish we had stayed in MN where life was peaceful. I wouldn’t trade snow to my knees and a frozen car battery for Georgia's sunshine ever again. Now the only hard part is how to get out of here. Moral of the story…the grass isn’t always greener on the other side…why i never listen, I have no IDEA!

I'm from Atlanta and have never dealt with the issues that you've faced for your family. I don't think that the problem was Atlanta, I just think that you hit a hard time in your life. Instead of blaming others, sit down with your wife and family and try to figure out how to get out of debt. Why not called the United Way of Atlanta or the Salvation Army for assistance. You may not want it, but apply for unemployment untiil you get back on your feet. Talk to your career counselor with the Georgia DOL and find out what other opportunities are out there for your family. Go to the Consumer Credit Counseling individuals (google the one in Atlanta) to find out how to get your family back on track financially and economically FOR FREE!! Take a lesser paying job until something else comes along and use that money to move back to MN. Also, if you moved here for a job, then try having that accountind department (with your former employer) pay off some of those relocation costs. They should've at least offered a severance package. Stop whining and take charge.
