Fulton, NY is a small city located in Upstate New York. It is home to many different businesses, organizations and people. Politically, the city operates under the mayor-council form of government. The mayor is elected by the citizens of Fulton every four years and presides over the City Council which consists of six members. The council members are elected to four year terms and are responsible for setting and enforcing policy within the city limits. Recently, there have been some changes in leadership as two new members were added to the council in 2020. They are working hard to ensure that all voices in Fulton are heard and represented fairly while striving to make Fulton an even better place to live.

Here at BestPlaces, we were looking at the voting patterns since the 2000 election and realized that we could express the results of each election as one letter. R if the Republican Party candidate won, D if the Democratic Party candidate won and I if the Independent Party candidate won. The six elections (2000, 2004, 2008, 2012, 2016, 2020) would be expressed as six-letter word (R R D R R).

Then we went a little further and added the dimension of magnitude. If the difference of victory was greater than 10 percent, the letter is upper case, and lower case if the difference was less than 10 percent. This allows us to see interesting voting patterns at just a glance.

I grew up and attended school in Fulton from 1962 to late 1970's. It was a great place to live but the businesses eventually died off and unemployment became high. In  More

If you like snow and water this is a great area to live. The cost of living is low. You are very close to Lake Ontario, The Fingerlakes and the Erie Barge  More
