Horrible place to live!!! - 4/11/2012
I moved to Arizona in 1997 when I was in sixth grade and have hated it with a passion the entire time I've been here. I would've already moved, but unfortunately, something always comes up that prevents me from getting out here. The people here are completely rude, shallow, and superficial. The weather is unbearable. I have two children and I can't even bring them to the park between the months of May to September because they'll burn themselves on the playground equipment. The temperature is between 95 and 120 degrees majority of the year. You have to have bottled water everywhere you go, so you don't dehydrate. If you have small children you can't leave your car in uncovered parking because car seats become scorching hot within five minutes with no air conditioning and will literally burn your child. The schools here are HORRIBLE. When I moved here when I was in sixth grade, the school I attended was two years behind my old school. I was "learning" (more like reviewing) things in sixth grade that I had already learned in fourth grade in the Midwest. Unfortunately, schools are no better now. My son is in first grade and the homework is ridiculously easy, even for first graders. They underestimate the kids here. ASU is a JOKE. It is probably one of the worst schools in the country. All the students do there is party. They get their degrees with minimal work and C averages. ASU only cares about money, as do most of the people in this godforsaken state. Racism and discrimination are HUGE problems here. This state is completely backwards. It is like Hell on Earth. Don't move here if you don't want to feel like the life is being sucked out of you every day![read more...] |

The great state of Arizona - 3/13/2012
The great state is right. There is so much diversity and things to like about this state. Even though there also is a lot to dislike about it as well. People complain about the laws and the laws of the past. But the state has the right and should have the right to protect itself from being a crime scene in itself. From the desert to the mountains and the mesas all around. There is not much you can not do here. Well maybe swim in the ocean. They say we have no jobs, yes they are right, we do not have places for the unwilling to work, the illegal worker or the one who just flat out goes against the grain. But we do have those jobs that if taken and not high enough in pay or need subsidies and state help, it is there. That is if the others leave room for the wanting or actually need ones.
There are water ways, rivers, valleys, deserts, forests summer, winter and some spring and fall. Just depends where you are. Small towns open lands city's for all to see. As long as you agree to take what you bring and leave what nature has been giving in place. [read more...] |

It's true, you can buy a very nice home for your d - 2/4/2012
forget about anything else that's positive in this backward state. Seriously, for Phoenix being such a metropolis city that has grown leaps and bounds in the last 20 yrs, it's a sad state of affair's, two of the biggest, Politicians and Crime. I am a native, in my fifties and I'm almost embarrassed in admitting being born and raised here, however, I have just achieved the freedom to finally leave this state, recommendation's welcome :) [read more...] |

I swear, I'm going to die in this God-forsaken sta - 9/13/2011
I hate this state with a passion. Growing up here, it's really affected my allergies and asthma very badly. Not to mention, it's hotter than the armpit of Hell. I want very badly to move North, but I'm only 17. Plus, my dad says I'll never make it because I have Arizona in my blood and I wouldn't be able to take the cold winters. Well guess what? Hella cold is so much better than hella hot! I can literally feel myself dying! Besides the heat, the economy sucks, violence is unbelievable, the state itself is ugly, and the school system? Well, let's not even go there. Most of you will probably push this review out of mind because I'm 17. But I've lived here my whole life and trust me when I say, it's miserable.[read more...] |

for those that "moved out of az" i have positive t - 5/5/2011
Arizona is a great place to live, in the Phoenix valley anyways... we have sun most of the year, blue skies and white puffy clouds... schools for anyone and anything you could possibly want to go for, concerts of every genre, arts centers and outdoor events in most major cities, museums, history, carnivals, swap meets, zoo's and wildlife parks, scenis drives for those that love it, country or city living within a short drive from each other...
You can be in L.A. Vegas, or San Diego within 4-6 hours. We have 5 lakes within a 30-45 minute drive and if you love snow you can go to the ski resorts within 2-3 hours!
The state of AZ has every climate and every kind of landscape, desert, water, mts., valleys & prairies. You name it, you can find it here! If you don't like the heat go north! And besides its only from May to September then its heaven!!! you'll wake up to springlike weather almost every day that will make you want to get up and breathe in deeply and say yes!!! i made it through the heat and THIS is why i live here!!![read more...] |

glad that I moved out of Arizona - 6/29/2010
Finally, I found a site where I am able to voice my frustration. I just moved out of Arizona and I am glad that I did. I lived in that state for fourteen years and did have some good times and great memories, but I will say some things that people will not like or appreciate. One, there are many people in Arizona who are shallow, narrow-minded, egotistical, and rude. Many of the state's residents lack personality, heart, and determination. Second, the people in that state do not care about education and they sure as hell do not appreciate the hardworking teachers of the state; of which I was one. Third, the people lack the backbone to stand up to the legislature and to even Sheriff Joe Arpaio, who continues to run over people time after time. The weather in the summer is a furnace and there is not much to do to combat it. The businesses in Arizona go out of their way to screw their customers and their employees. Pay is lousy for many professions, but everyone keeps bending over and taking it. People cannot drive to save their life and if you ask for directions, do not count on getting any even if they have lived there for ten or more years. When you have a legitimate complaint, the best response that anyone gives is, "If you do not like it, then you can leave." How about we try to solve the problem. I am just glad to have left Arizona. There are some good people in Arizona, but they are few and far between. [read more...] |
