| 8/12/2012 | parent | My children attended this school and I wouldnt recommend this school to anyone, very unorganized teachers really don't take the time with the lesson neither child was challenged academically, me personally this school needs a real principal , new teachers and a major donation to fix the buildings, no heat n the winter in certain classrooms, no gym area. I'm just glade I removed my children before it was to late. |
| 11/22/2011 | parent | This is my daughters first year at Khepera. She is in Kindergarten. She has learned so much in these three short months of school. She loves going to school everyday because the staff makes the learning environment positive and enjoyable. Not only is my daughter getting an education but the staff at Khepera goes above and beyond that by teaching the children about their culture and the importance of knowing who you are and where you came from!!! I can see that they are truly striving for academic and cultural excellence. Therefore, as a parent I give the school two thumbs up way up as well as five stars for excellence!! |
| 9/23/2008 | parent | This is my son's 4th year at Khepera. There has been changes in the principal but the principal that is there now is a really good fit. I coninually see the school growing and making progress academically. As with any school it is not perfect but they do try very hard to offer a word class education to our children. I love the rich cultural education that they provide my son with. I would like to see Khepera do more with the Gifted Program which was started last year. But Khepera is still rising! Great Charter School Keep Up The Good Work! |
| 9/22/2008 | parent | My daughter attends Khepera and has grown tremendously. My child feels safe to express herself, and has gained a great deal of confindence. I will agree with the other parent who stated that Khepera is not that organized, but they have been making progress, starting with obtaining a principal they can keep. |
| 6/6/2008 | parent | I m surprise that Khepera is still open. My child use to attend there. They have had multiple principles and the school is not organized. My child learned a lot about African American culture however, he did not learn the actual curriculum that he should have been learning. I never thought my child would receive more from public school then from a charter school. I don t know much about the new principle but I do know the reputation of the school is not a good one. |
| 5/29/2008 | parent | As a parent and educator I am well pleased with Khepera Charter School. This is my sons first year at Khepera and they have grown academically. The staff at Khepera truly care about the children that attends their school. The CAO loves and adores this children, she is a great support to the children as well as her staff. We must realize that no school is perfect, but KHEPERA is RISING, and if you think that we are not rising fast enough, then pray for us, but remember only the prayers of the righteous avail much. We as parents must not listen to the negative comments about Khepera, you have to know and see things for yourself and if you feel that it's not the place for your child, there are other schools to choose from. Khepera keep on RISING! (Alicia Reed, parent) |
| 5/14/2008 | parent | Unfortunately I had a lot of hopes for Khepera but have been very disappointed. Prior to me enrolling my child there, other parent explained to me how this was not a good school. Going against the grain I enrolled my child anyway and have regrets. As a parent when I had a issue I felt totally lost with no where to go. I have constantly had to contact the principles because of things that were going on and the response I continued to receive was I understand and we must do better . After a while more then just saying you understand needs to be done. Khepera is an Afro Centric school and I really wanted to support them but supporting should not be an inconvenience. Khepera does have some really great teachers that are passionate about the children but there are also those who aren t. I heard some great things about the new CAO and I heard some not so great things so I wanted to form my own opinion. Unfortunately I am one of the parents who have some not so great things to say about the CAO. I really hope Khepera can get it together. The concept of the school is great but the organization of the school isn t. |
| 1/29/2008 | parent | I am so very pleased with the continued progress I have seen from year to year. This is the third year my son has attended. I love the new principal she is passionate about education and the students. I love the discipline and differiated instruction. I am so glad Khepera has started the gifted program. The staff are hard working. Its particularly great for the number of dedicated and positive African American males they have on staff. Wonder for our younger boys can see positive images. I look for continued success |
| 9/28/2007 | parent | As a parent and educator I know test scores alone do not paint and accurate picture of how well a school serves its student population.Khepera Charter School is rising. There is a new CAO who not only has a love and passion for the advancement of the children but a strong commitment as well. This coupled with caring teachers who are constantly working on new and innovative ways to teach is what makes a great school.Included in the curriculum is a strong emphasis on character development, this is carried out through the rites of passage program. There is also martial arts, dance, and a music program(percussion). If Khepera remains on the path they are on now it will be one of the top performing schools in the city.Khepera is rising and I am honored to have my child as part of the Khepera Family |
