Don't move here - 7/3/2020
Phoenix is a dirt-bag city. I have lived in many other cities and this place was hands-down the worst.
The people are rude, uncouth, uncultured, judgmental, dumb, cold and ruthless. The educational level is low. Yes these idiots think they know what's right for YOU. I just love when uneducated, functionally illiterate redneck types try to tell me how to live my life. You're judged by your wallet, or your looks.
The city is dirty and there's no culture. The summers are horrid. No breaks in the summer weather. Summer AC bills are awful. You have to run your errands early in the morning to avoid the furnace-blast heat. If you want nice weather and some nice terrain go to San Diego. You have to get out from November through May for activities like the zoo.
Employers are cheap and don't care about you. (yes I have a degree but the cost of living is high for what they pay). There's no sense of community. People really don't want to make friends with you. Most are Read More

It is not the paradise you think it is. - 6/16/2020
I have lived here for 20 years and due to family issues not able to move. The pros - very little weather - if you like that. Except in August when you may get hit by a microburst - we did three years in a row and the last one was a $21,000 claim followed by a huge insurance premium hike. November - March is very pretty though. If you enjoy a range of weather you will not get that here. The summers are basically hell. If you are from the midwest you know how crabby people are in by the end of winter. It is the same here. By August / September people are done with the heat and crabby. You won't see many of your neighbors out chatting with one another. You will see your neighbors pull straight into their garage and shut the door before they get out so they do not risk interaction. The property taxes are actually pretty low. But you will pay for that. The education system is TERRIBLE. Arizona has the 3 WORST school system in the country and it shows. I am constantly Read More

The desert is not all you think it is... - 6/9/2020
So you want to live in the sun, eh? Well, trust me my friends. You will change how you see the sun when you hardly ever get any rain. It will become a energy drain where you will want to stay inside for 8 months out of the year. Oh yea, and a sunny apartment? Nah, you will keep the blinds closed to keep out the heat to try and shave a few dollars off your $300 energy Read More

Save your money and stay out of red states - 5/21/2020
I lived in Phoenix for 10 years......definitely a sh!thole. I moved and tried Tempe, another sh!thole and now I live in Tucson......well it is different and a bit cooler and wetter, and prettier but it is still a sh!thole.......What causes this phenomenon is the state government run by Mormons.....yes they have ruined this state too. Do not come here. It is a right to work red state, which means you have no rights. Very bad medical, abusive employers and a corrupt governor and Read More

Should be last option - 1/10/2020
There are pros and cons of living anywhere in the world, no place is perfect, but when it comes to choosing somewhere to live and settle down, the pros should generally outweigh the cons. That is not the case with Phoenix. For a city in the middle of the desert you would expect less traffic and cheaper cost of living, not the case. Gas here is 1$ more than the Midwest states (the states that EVERYONE seem to complain about) and you HAVE to drive here because our public transportation is a big joke, apartment and house prices have raised these past couple years because of the influx of people moving here, making it not practical anymore to purchase a house unless maybe you're fine with living an hour away from downtown. Everything is brown and beige, the houses are all cookie cutter its a true eye sore, air quality is really bad (pollution and dust), which can lead to sinus problems and overall health issues. The heat starts from late April and can last till late October as was the Read More

Consider before moving here what you're getting - 1/6/2020
I moved here for a job a few months ago and unfortunately won't be staying long. To summarize:

The bad:
-Traffic. I was a little shocked coming from a mid-sized city the amount of traffic. Luckily I time my commutes so they are either after the morning rush and after the evening one. My job luckily permits this, or I'd go even crazier. Drivers are generally bad and I feared getting in accidents often. This has evened out a bit as I try not to drive unless I absolutely have to now. So long, recreational trips. There's just too many people that live here.
-Ugly. I love the southwest and lived in Tucson for a number of years. You won't really get that living here much. It's all infrastructure and roads everywhere. I often forget I'm even in the desert. Trash is kind of everywhere.
-Beggars. I get asked/begged for money every time I stop to get gas.
-Air quality. My sinuses have been bad since moving here. I think it's due to the poor air quality Read More

One of the top 10 hottest cities on earth - 12/28/2019
I've already reviewed before, but one thing I would suggest if you're thinking of moving here, look up the hottest cities in the world. Phoenix typically shows up on every list. If not Phoenix, then Yuma which is only 3 hours south of there. AND, just remember, it's getting hotter. Read More

Stay away or end up in jail - 10/17/2019
Avoid Phoenix,, Mesa, Tempe, Scottsdale, all metro Phx, the summer sucks, few low paying jobs, high rent, police are inept at best, they tend to harrass and profile people, apartments nearly impossible to get, lots of Read More
