People! I think we're not in Orlando anymore! - 12/2/2006
I have to agree with the last posting that Orlando has changed. To some people for the better but for me and thousands more...FOR THE WORSE!!!
They have build so much and thousands of people have moved here that it makes it dificult to even find a decent paying job. In 2004 alone, more than 500,000 people moved to Florida and believe me when I tell you, this has made things dificult for all who lived here. We'll have to wait to see the results of how many more have moved in 2005-2006 which I'm sure will be even more.
Bottom line, Orlando's crime rate has gone up, cost of living has increased, job situation is not the way it was, Food prices are up, utilities are up. Should I say more???? Orlando was and it will never be again a nice place to call

Quality of Life not what it used to be - 11/28/2006
I have been living in the Orlando area for over a decade. When I first came here, the cost of living was low, traffic was light, there were little or no crowds and everyone was friendly. Now, none of the above is true. Crime is getting worse and the education system is

Too Expensive - Stuck Renting - 10/25/2006
I am 29 and have lived in Central FL my entire life. I am very surprised at the appreciation of homes in this area. Great for those who bought a home in Orlando 8-10 years ago, but terrible for those seeking to purchase a first time home now. It's pretty sad that an average price for a new 2 bedroom condo is around $230,000+. If you're looking to relocate to Orlando and plan to purchase a 3 bedroom, 2 bath house expect to shell out $300,000 AND UP for a decent house in a decent community. It's to the point that I'm seriusly considering moving so that I can afford home

Cost Of Living - Off the charts - 10/15/2006
While some parts of the city seem to be thriving other seems to be dwindling and those “thriving” are not necessarily the one’s the average individual can afford. Orlando is no longer the city Beautiful as they like to portray it. The crime is increasing at alarming rate, downtown commerce is dying, the prices of the houses have skyrocketed and although they are somewhat coming down due to the glut in the housing market both sellers and buyers are still being challenged by salaries that have not kept up with the inflation we experiencing. By the way be ready to spend some money going across town because the strategically design and built public access express roads are not free or

Can't take it anymore. - 10/3/2006
After my 21st summer here in the "sunshine state," I've realized I cannot take another one. Florida knows two seasons: Hot and Hotter. Unfortunately, Hotter lasts a good 5-6 months, with NO break. You can bank on 90+ degrees with insane humidity from early May to sometimes mid or late October. No cold fronts, no breezes, just a lot of rain and excrutiating heat. I can't go through it again. Not to mention the population in Orlando is growing faster than the actual area--we don't have enough roads or public transportation to accommodate it. Nothing to do in the area, unless you want to throw down 60+ bucks a person for one day at a theme park. Not to mention the amount of tourists and bad drivers there are around here. You better believe I'll be out of here by next June, for sure. I'd like to live somewhere with real seasons and accessible roads or public

Sarah your beloved (32826) Waterford Lakes is what?? 15 - 20 miles from Downtown Orlando?? And you have an Orlando address correct??? I used to live across SR 50 so I know. I have to move because Waterford lakes and the whole area caused so much traffic backup my drive became too long and stressful! (not to mention expensive). This is what others are saying, sprawl is out of control and strip malls, etc. are ruining what was once a beautiful area. Yes, please stay away from central FL and leave us with what is left of our
