It's so much better out of season - 3/19/2006
Yes, it's elderly and expensive, but the one thing that will drive me out of here soonest is tourist season. It's impossible (as a local) to grocery shop, eat out, wash your car, get a haircut ... from November through April. Virtually every other driver has out-of-state tags, and not one appears to have a clue where they're going. That said, we thoroughly enjoy May and October (the other months, we're boarding up for hurricanes).
On the positive side, it's BEAUTIFUL, warm, and sunny. I love the people who live here, and I'm very happy with the appreciation in housing values (I own

This is a vibrant town that has wonderful libraries full of brand new items, the world famous Florida House that teaches sustainable living, and beautiful beaches.
