What BestPlaces Users Say about California
California is known for its diverse landscapes, vibrant cities, and thriving economy. It is home to some of the most iconic landmarks in the United States, such as the Golden Gate Bridge and Hollywood. With a population of over 39 million, it is the most populous state in the country. However, living in California comes with its own set of challenges, including high living costs and natural disasters. Let's take a look at what people have to say about living in this particular place.
According to user reviews on BestPlaces, living in California has its pros and cons. One user, JohnD, highlights the state's natural beauty and opportunities for outdoor activities: "Living in California has been a dream come true for me. The weather is amazing, and there's always something to do outdoors." On the other hand, another user named SarahH mentions the high cost of living: "I've been struggling to make ends meet in California due to the high cost of living. Rent and taxes are through the roof." Despite the high living costs, many users still appreciate the state's diverse culture and career opportunities.
Another user, MichaelS, shares his experience with the wildfires that frequently occur in California: "Living in California has its risks, especially with the constant threat of wildfires. It can be nerve-wracking, but the community comes together in times of crisis." It's something to consider before moving here."
In conclusion, California has its advantages and disadvantages for its residents. The state's natural beauty, diverse culture, and career opportunities are highly praised, but the high cost of living and natural disasters are also significant factors to consider. Overall, it seems that living in California is a mixed experience, and it ultimately depends on an individual's preferences and priorities.

Southern California - 12/10/2007
The number one reason I will regret leaving Southern California, if I do, is the climate. I hate really hot weather, but that typically doesn't occur here for too many days in a row, and usually is not accompanied by the high humidity that affects many other states. However, I may very well be driven out of this area due to the high cost of living (it isn't just housing) and the ever-increasing traffic. Of course, I originally came here from another state and therefore added my own contribution to the crowding, so I haven't a right to complain about

Housing - 8/14/2007
I have lived in Southern California for 25 years and did not like it from day one. People were not friendly and then and still not friendly. The cost of housing is out of control. I live in a 4 bedroom ,2 bath house that does for 450,000. It is not worth it at all. We would not be able to afford it if we had not purchased it 10 years ago. Good jobs are not easy to get and traffic is horrible. I commute to work 30 miles. It takes me 1 hour with no traffic and 2 hours with traffic. If it is raining, forget it, you might as well get a hotel room. The air quality is terrible and it is the worst state to live

Bay Area Weather - 7/15/2007
The weather in the Bay Area is one of it's top attractions. Warm days, cool evenings. It normally does not rain from April to November. This makes planning for social events very easy. We do get rain and cooler temperatures during the other months but normally no snow and only rarely do we have freezing temperatures at

3rd World Country - 6/16/2007
My opinions about California can mostly be applied to all of southern California. I moved here to San Bernardino in 1980 after 20 years of living in Buffalo, New York & Alaska. At that time I had thought California was my paradise and this is where I wanted to spend the rest of my life. I took full advantage of the opportunities available including the beaches, mountains, hunting, fishing, 4 wheeling, dry & warm weather, sunshine, cuisine, college, employment, Spanish history & culture, architecture, botanical gardens, etc... The list has no end. However, this was also the beginning of the illegal immigrant mass migration era into southern California which continues to this day. The strains placed against our hospitals, schools, employment (repressed wages) police, fire, social services, housing, etc... from 12 million illegal immigrants who have no desire to be American citizens and claim 10dependants so that they pay no taxes has had the effect of turning southern California from a
