Review of Arizona, Arizona

Find The Climate That Suits You.
Star Rating - 7/30/2009
I've lived in Arizona for the better part of 40 years. I've resided in several different cities and several different climates within the state. Phoenix is known for being very hot and dry, and it is, but most people don't talk about the fact that it has 8 months of great weather from fall through spring. You can enjoy a lot of outdoor recreation during that period. Tucson is similar but with slightly cooler temperatures, 1000+ feet higher in elevation, and is surrounded by mountains. Payson and Prescott are in the central part of the state and have elevations in the 5000 feet range. Temperatures in those cities can still reach into the 100's at times but the evenings are usually cool and in winter they typically get snow falls that last a couple of days. Both areas are forested with tall pines and oak trees. Flagstaff is in the northern part of the state and is for those who like it cold. At nearly 7000 feet in elevation Flagstaff is always cool, even in the middle of summer daytime highs are typically in the 70's and nightime lows in the upper 40's. Flagstaff averages more than 8 feet of snowfall in the winter. Arizona offers a great deal of outdoor recreational opportunities like hiking, camping, boating, skiing (both water & snow), biking, cycling, rock climbing, rafting, and more.
