Review of Denver, Colorado

Native perspective
Star Rating - 9/21/2020
From a native's perspective of course I love my home town. However I am considering leaving it because far too many people are moving here driving up the cost of living, the road congestion, and basically killing the reasons people love Colorado. You can't go anywhere anymore without finding a crowd of people. It takes an hour to get across town. I lived what used to be a 15 minute drive from work and now it can take 30-45 minutes based on traffic. The hiking trails around Denver are packed full of people. I have never in my life had a problem finding a job but with all these people here now it is becoming harder. There are too many people here and I am beginning to feel claustrophobic. I have grown really tired of how we have to tip toe around transplants feelings when they clearly have no regard for what locals want. You shovel out a parking space in front of your house they park in it. Okay technically they can do that but it is kind of a jerky move. We locals don't operate that way. But this is no longer what they used to call a cow town but a big city that can rival any other big city in many ways. My perspective is when in Rome you adapt and these people don't adapt. At a certain point the cons outweigh the positives and you know it is time to leave.

I like the 16$ per hour minimum wage, the relative lack of nimbyism compared to other cities and legal weed. I absolutely hate everything else about the new denver, especially the fact that most of the transplants are incredibly self absorbed pricks

If you don’t like people moving into your city, then literally don’t ever move to any other city, because then you’ll no longer be a “native”, but a transplant, and have to deal with unnecessary ridicule by locals.
