Sleepy San Diego county town is a gem.

We have lived here for 15 years and have found this to be a very interesting place. It's a place you generally you do not pass through, so for the most part it is not a transient location. Due to it's location tucked back around the South East corner of Camp Pendelton, it has a permanent buffer zone of open space. If you need your space and still want to live in San Diego area, you might like this location. We are about 20 min from Temecula and 45 min from San Diego. So the price you pay to live in this area is bit more drive time, but not too much more. Good people here and we have a lot less crime than our neighboring cities, Oceanside, and Vista. Although we still have about 700 or so gang bangers, they "generally" are not a problem for locals. Sheriff keeps them on a very short leash. Fallbrook has a very small downtown that rolls up the sidewalks when darkness comes. Some negatives about Fallbrook are: Camp Pendleton noise at times. Artillery fire can be really loud at times. Window shaking. Traffic in and out of the base, early morning and early eve, to and from I-15 can clog up Mission Rd. The apartments off of Clemmens, Alturus, Ammunition streets are full of localized issues. Stay away from this area. Overall if Fallbrook continues the trend of building fancy expensive homes, this area will slowly push out the riff raff and will only get better. A great place to retire if you want to stay in this area. Fallbrook is about 10 degrees milder on temps vs Temecula, so thats a plus.
