David you sound bitter. The surbs are not 2 hours away. I have lived all over the country and Houston is by far the cheapest nice place to live. I own a 5 bdrm 3 1/2 bth with a study,gm rm,media room, with 2 lv rms,and 2 dn rms. No, I'm not rich. Houston offers opps you can't find anywhere else in America. I only paid 235,000 for it. Also my community is gated and guarded 24 hours. Now that's cheap,it takes me 30 minutes to get dwtn.

Yes,there are bad parts of Houston every city has a ghetto. The only down side to Houston is the heat.If you're worried about West Nile use Off. They get West Nile in the Mid West also,watch CNN.
