Suffocating Heat!

I am Southern "born and bred" but I swear that this heat is becoming more and more intolerable. If you love heat (and sweating) and not having much of a Fall and even less Winter, this could very well be the city for you. I've been here almost 7 years. If I make the 10th year, it'll be due to an extreme abundance of blessings.
In spite of that, opportunities here are abundant. The cost of living is moderate. Compared to cities such as Austin and Dallas (let's not even mention L.A. and Chicago), housing is very affordable. As for utility companies, the most common complaint is that we pay more for electricity (Reliant) - even compared to other Texas cities.
Culturally diverse, ample entertainment.
Long streets make it easy to learn the city.
As with most major cities, the traffic is a nuisance, but they are expanding the Katy Fwy (I-10) and in my years here, they've added the Westpark Tollway and Ft. Bend Tollway. Hopefully in the near future they will expand 45 & 288 (it's CHAOS if you plan to reside in Pearland, Fresno or Alvin, and work downtown).
If your career path is in the medical field or education, you should do well here.
Although I'm looking to relocate to the East coast (for several reasons), I give Htown an 8 on a scale of 10.
