Review of Houston, Texas

Star Rating - 8/3/2007
Joe, you got it right, I'd like to reiterate what he said. Houston is a balance between metropolitan and small town. Between Southern hospitality and international flare. You can come from any other place in the world and the find your niche in Houston.

Yes, the weather is humid and hot, and undpredictable. Traffic is not a bowl of cherries. But I have been to other cities and I know what makes a city thrive: it's people. If you have nothing but overworked, underpaid people with no hopes and no dreams you get a hell-hole for a city. But Houston is growing everday, new buildings, new businesses everywhere, and JOBS. Decent paying jobs. And while Texas is conservative, Houston is a tolerant city, look at Montrose, The Heights, West U, Meyerland...

I am in California right now, and the whole feud between Cali and Texas is not even debatable. California claims to have very liberal perspectives, but has almost no compassion for its people. I still remember Sept 2nd, 2005, (my 30th Birthday). Filmming people down at the Astrodome at 2, 3, 4AM, offering; shelter, food, clothes, and money to the displaced of Katrina. Houston has heart!
