Houston

After reading all the postings, I feel compelled to reply. I've lived in Houston and Boston and have travelled all over the country. Houston is a fantastic, funk, wealthy, and progressive city. The people are DIVERSE, NICE, KIND, and Curteous. The people of Houston combine the great qualities of midwestern and southern people. The city is green, open, bright and colorful. And very importantly, people have money in their pockets and are happy. Houston is very much like Los Angeles in that regard. Houston ofcourse does not have the mountains and ocean as LA does. If you are looking for something like that, try Houston or Los angeles. If you are looking for a Wusteria lane in a homogeneous close minded niche, leave and go elsewhere and stop complaining.
I'm shocked that there are New Englanders making negative comments about Houston and its people. Let me put it this way: The people in New England, in general, are rough, rude, and sloppy. People are walking around with wrinkled clothes, smelly winter coats full of dog and cat hair, without make-up and with that famous bitter and sour face. It is almost as if they are worn out by their fellow new englanders, the medieval laws, the atrocious winters, and the lack of cash. The streets are congested, dirty, and the homes all dark, old and small. Enough said...
If you want a good life amongst good people in a big progressive city, go to Houston or Dallas. If you dont mind the cold, go to Chicago. If you don't mid glitz, go to Los Angeles.
If you are looking for misery among miserable people, go to New England.
