I really liked Clear Lake, Houston. I was a stay at home mom for a while there and it was great.
Pro:
The library is first class. It always has programs for children. The downtown has much to offer for entertainment. I felt very safe in Houston. Many times I forgot to lock my door and still felt safe. It was very easy to make friends.
Con:
Some neighborhoods are not as safe as Clear Lake. The heat and humidity is very unpleasant. Traffic to downtown is a pain.
