Houston is a great city

Quality of life is an equation composed of professional/work opportunities, access to the arts and culture, quality education, health, affordable housing, weather, the people, and more. Contrary to popular belief of those who have spent no, or little, time in Houston, it is a very green (literally) city with lots of trees and parks. Yes, we need the foliage to offset the industry that is in our backyard and is the lifeblood of the Gulf Coast and a resource for the nation...energy. It affords many people the opportunity to live a king's life, in a king-size house, for amazingly little compared to the rest of the nation. Even moderate income earners can afford a decent lifestyle. Houston's friendliness was demonstrated by the response to Hurrican Katrina evacuees, many of whom remain in Houston and are rebuilding their lives here. Unfortunately, with Katrina came a higher crime rate...we will have to see how that turns out. One of the best things about Houston is the SUN...we see a lot of it and it always makes you feel good. As long as you can deal with the humidity in August and September... and bad hair days...Houston is a great place to live.
