Comparison of other Cities

Due to the lack of jobs and downsizing, we are forced to relocate. I have been viewing many cities and cannot believe how much more the cost of living is even in small town USA compared to Houston!!!
There isn't much you can call scenery here...everything is flat and mostly concrete. They have done a wonderful jobs with the parks and planting trees but don't plan on an all day hike anywhere because you will run out of walking space.
The medical center is the best! Still jobs are not as plentiful as they once were in boomtown, USA. More and more cutbacks everyday. This wonderful town regrouped and came back with proud after the 90s oil crunch and I hope it stays alive.
I came from Tennessee with real mountains, clean streams and fresh air, but no work there. So, if you are thinking about relocating as we are due to employment, be cautious in what you wish for and where you wish it to be. We will probably return to Tennessee, downsize tremendously and just thank God we have food on the table.
However, if you do move to Houston be prepared for LONG lines, HEAVY traffic and lots of concrete. Otherwise, Houston is ok if you aren't up for a lot of scenery. It offers great restaurants, lots of water and HOT weather. I hope you like to sweat.
My advice however before you do anything, ck out the cost of living here and there before any major move. Best of luck!
