Relocating to Texas

Hi! I am separated with 3 kids and thinking of relocating in Houston or anywhere in Texas. I would like to know the cost of living, housing, jobs and day care over there. I work as a Biller in NY but do they really pay low? How does a single-mother will be able to afford there? I am clueless, my husband just left me and would like to get away. Need your advise. Thanks!
