Pretty decent mid-west city

I lived in Cincinnati for a while and I'd say St. Louis is pretty comparable to that. Nothing extraordinary but it's a good place to be if your in a health care profession. Barnes-Jewish hospital is here and is considered one of the top ten research hospitals in the country. The traffic can be jacked-up at times especially since the state temporarily closed one of the main interstates through the city (Route 40). As far as public transportation is concerned, the bus system covers pretty much the entire St. Louis County. There is an electric metro-train system which services most of the major destinations in the city, along with the north county area, including the airport. The train also extends quite a bit into eastern Illinois, but is unfortunately lacking on the west end of STL.
I wouldn't say housing is cheap here unless you want to live in the ghetto (East STL), but it's well worth it to pay a little extra to be in a safe area. I just recommend doing your homework and ask an agent which areas have good resale value. The airport isn't bad, just a little confusing driving around in. But, it's not always easy to get a direct flight out of there. Usually your going to make a connection somewhere. If you already have good jump lined-up, it's not a hard place to relocate to and readjust. If your working and want to get more education to better yourself, so you can go somewhere else. There are plenty of opportunities for that too.
