About the City

Having lived in Sugar Land for about 5 years, I would have to say that yes, it is a good place to live in general. However, one thing that I did not like about it was the fact that it was growing like mad. Fort Bend County is one of the fastest growing areas in the nation (or at least it was, last time I looked). Lots of new housing areas are going up and many people moving in. The School district is good, but they are having a hard time keeping up with all the growth. I would say to the person before who was looking for info that it would be pretty likely to find a job with the district. Proximity to Houston is a good thing, however, most if not all things you could need are there in town. In my time there, I didn't see much crime, though I imagine with the closeness to town, it is there. As most of the town is within 2-5 miles of a major river (the Brazos), there are times when it does flood (mostly when a tropical storm or hurricane comes near, but it doesn't happen that often), however, it is contained pretty well. You may have some localized flooding when it rains really hard and long, but it is dissipitated rapidly. Lots of different churches, and a great amount of diversity in the city. Over all, and in conclusion, I would say that Sugar Land is a good place to raise a family.
