Review of Yonkers, New York

Taxes, Taxes, Taxes
Star Rating - 6/28/2014
Here in Westchester County, New York...local taxes; especially school taxes, are among the highest in the nation...which is why people usually move out at retirement. In fact, food, entertainment...everything...though plentiful and more varied and available than most places in the U.S...are very expensive. 15 to 25 to 30 thousand and up per year for an average-sized property is not uncommon, the more desirable the municipality in which you live. Only the cities are a little cheaper...but they have some of the other problems associated with most cities, not the least of which are many of the problems with big city schools in most parts of the U.S.
