Most AWESOME city in America!!
Star Rating - 11/16/2007
Word to the wise... the naysayers on here who say Bostonians are rude or "smug", probably are just upset because they're not educated enough to get a decent enough job to enjoy the quality of life Boston has to offer! I have met NOTHING but nice people in Boston since moving here 5 years ago from Missouri. If you are looking for a city full of uneducated dregs of society, welfare types then no, Boston is probably not for you. BUT, if you believe in putting in a decent day's work to earn a great quality of life then Boston is for everyone from grocery store clerks to pediatric brain surgeons. Yes, we are mostly well-educated and even some here are very well to do, but I have never been treated rudely by anyone in this city and as I said, I have lived here for over 5 years. I will say that the least friendly people I have met seem to be the eastern European immigrant population that cannot speak English. I don't know if that is a cultural thing for them, or just an language barrier, but many seem to me to be very cold. I MAYBE run into someone like this once in a month or two.

So, basically the one's who post negative comments must just be mean spirited, miserable people who cannpt afford tolive here because they won't lift a finger to put in a decent day's labor.

Just my .02.

You are a TYPICAL "Bostonian." Self-righteous and mean-spirited yourself. Well, WHOPEE, that you're counted as intelligent enough to be received well by the other elitist snobs and great nasty unwashed. Have a lovely life. You and Boston seem to have found a marriage made in pseudo-intellectual, phoney hell.

I lived in Eastern Mass for 16 years and found that manyboarts of Boston are filled witj educated, civil, professional people. However, part of the reason for this is that those people aren't truly indigenous New Englanders , but rather live there because of school, job transfers that brought them there from other places including foreign countries. You need to live outside of the 128, then you will begin to rub shoulders with trully indigenous New Englanders who can be very rude, snotty (and snobby), mean, potty mouthed, ignorant, arrogant, etc.

That's a little off. Boston is for people who earn a lot of money, have inherited a lot of money, or people who are on welfare. There are actually tons of "welfare types" in Boston. That's who its built for. The rich and the poor. There is not a good standard of living to be had for grocery clerks, and people much higher on the ladder than that. There is no good quality of life to be had for the working class, and up through the middle class until you hit very comfortable upper-middle class. These people work hard every day, and come home to the same standard of living as those "welfare types" that Mac apparently isn't aware of. So they get mad and leave, exacerbating the lack of a true middle class in the area.
