Review of Lebanon, New Hampshire

A well-kept secret retreat from frenzied city life
Star Rating - 1/31/2009
The Lebanon/Hanover, New Hampshire community is often rated among the best places to live in the country. Population, however, remains a scant 20,000 or so. We enjoy the benefits of hosting Dartmouth College (whose alumni flock here in retirement), a world-class medical center (Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center), theater & arts, recreational opportunities, and a beau colic country setting. Employment opportunities include high-tech, education, finance, medical, retail, and a smattering of manufacturing. Schools must be good, as graduates attend top colleges across the country. Additionally, if the living gets to tranquil, a two-hour drive will take you to Boston in one direction and Burlington, Vermont in the other. Even New York City and Montreal, Canada are within reasonable reach!

Too bad there aren't any jobs there. Spent 3 years UNEMPLOYED in this area despite a Masters Degree and connections. A good place if you are wealthy and bring your trust fund or a student.
