When I was in Golden my young children were all in daycare. However, they did have the option of an all day kindercare. The HS seemed to be on par with other towns as far as what is offered, drug issues, rowdy kids, and the three R's. It is a very beautiful place to live. I was right at the foothills of the mountain and was able to watch the para-gliders from my front porch. One word of caution: if you rent be prepared. Deposit is = to one months rent and that one months rent ran us 1400.00 per month for a 3+ bed/1bath. take lots of pictures and document everything they play by Californias rules here. If you are going to buy, take your time looking.

The schools are very good! My boys are 5 and 7, and we have been very appreciative of the high quality of teachers and leadership in the schools. Golden parent are very involved in their kids' education, so they have high standards and the schools meet them. Golden is one of the few town in metro Denver that has its own "town feel." Lovely downtown area with lots of local events. I wouldn't live anywhere else in the Denver area than Golden! Well worth paying a bit extra for you home to live in this beautiful community!
