Suffice to say that everything she does not like about Las Vegas is magnified by a factor of 10 in California homelessness, traffic ethnic clashes, horrifying cost-of-living at least in places that are worth living in near the shore. I went to Stanford medical school and I can tell you from San Diego to San Francisco the whole damn place is a mess. It's unlivable now and I can afford to live there but choose not to. Back to Las Vegas though. Many of my physician friends from Stanford have set up practice here and we experience none-of the complaints that are described in these reviews. People tend to be unhappy and extrapolate that out to wherever it is they live. Gee, I can't get a good job therefore Las Vegas sucks. That sort of thing. I've lived here for eight years and have never had one single auto accident and drive 20,000 miles per year I don't know any of my friends/colleagues or even casual acquaintances that drinks or does drugs or gambles. The quality of life here, the everyday life that is, is way better than anything you'll have in California unless you're in Malibu overlooking the ocean but for the lower middle-class/middle-class/upper-middle-class life is better here. Everything is new. There are not bars on the windows and old dilapidated shacks that are 90 years old selling for $1 million. An old home here in Summerlin is 10 years old. The infrastructure is new and clean. Some might think architecturally it looks a little sterile but it's very functional and convenient. If you're looking for the south of France forget it but it's a good bang for your buck town. There are more five-star restaurants in Las Vegas than there are anywhere in the world including Paris France and New York City. I don't have kids so I don't know much about that but if you're a night person and I don't mean someone who goes out and gets drunk at 2 o'clock in the morning but likes to get things done at night or has trouble sleeping, Vegas is great. Last night for example, I went to the gym to work out at 1 o'clock in the morning. At 2:30 AM the gym that I work out at has a 24-hour juice bar. Then went to see a movie at 3 AM in the morning and then went to get an early breakfast at a buffet at 5 AM. Drove up to Mount Charleston which is 10,000 feet high and watched the sun come up over the mountains. Everything is a matter of perspective and be careful in reading these reviews that you're not reading some miserable persons review of their own lives rather than the actual town. Friends of mine from Seattle have moved to Las Vegas because they were getting depressed by the months and months of overcast skies. Seasonal affective disorder is real. Yes the sun shines here all the time but if you have a few dollars and can get out of here between June and September, then you've nailed it. You have literally 8 perfect months. The temperature will range from October through May from between 55° to 90°. It gets hot in the summer but most people with even a little bit of money and time and up spending those four months in places like Oregon or Washington state. I know that not everyone can afford that then again this is coming from my perspective and not someone who's broke and miserable because they can't make ends meet. The air is dry, and none of that uncomfortably humidity and no bugs. As far as the people are concerned, if you walk around with a smile on your face most people will smile back. If you sneer and stare them down they'll react in kind. But that goes anywhere. I find people here to be as friendly as they have been in any other place that I have ever been no more no less. I have never had a angry word or run in with anyone in this town and I have come across thousands of people since I've been here. Some of them are unhappy and it shows in their face but you'll find that in any place you go and is not a reflection on the city.

Agree with everything you said. The people who disagree with you are low life, drug addicts, with three teeth in the mouth and an extreme low standard of living. This place is disgusting.
