Housing market - 10/1/2013
Be careful! Las Vegas went through an amazing growth spurt in the last 15 years, and homes went up all over the valley. Many people bought homes when the banks had lowered their lending parameters, and I see them caught either in a mortgage they can no longer afford, in a home that is worth hardly half what it was when it was purchased, or both. (Believe me, it is very frustrating to know people who are going out there now and buying larger, newer homes than mine for a great deal less now.)
The result of this is an abundance of foreclosures and short sale homes.
I have seen my neighborhood go from a nice, quiet, family friendly group of homes to half-empty, semi-neglected rentals. This has created an increase in all of the negative things I was trying to avoid by buying far from the city center.
I like my home very much, but I would hate to have to add my cozy oasis to the growing number of empty homes in the area because of the unsafe influences that are Read More

Overall living - 8/21/2013
Employment sucks! Don't get me wrong. I work and go too school. In general speaking, everything sucks in Vegas. People, their bogus laws, Human rights are violated on so many levels....etc. The list goes on! I can tell you about all the negative that goes on in this city. I guess you can say, they really deserve the name "Sin City" Right now, I am facing an issue at work. Been living in Vegas for the past 12 years and working on the 13th year. Ask me how do I like it? I stopped liking Vegas after the 5th year. Why I stayed in Vegas and continued to deal with the Bogus? My Employment, college and husbands employment. Am I thinking of moving? MOST DEFINITELY! I have only one thing to say positive about Vegas. They don't have any State taxes and only Federal taxes. Aside from that, everything else is negative! You can feel the devil raining his parade in this city. The vibe is not good. Overall, I dislike Read More

Hi, I don't speak nor write to much. I can only said after fifteen years living in Las Vegas that if you want to relocate here and live here, you better do a extensive research firs. I don't recommend any body to move here especially if you have kids. "What happen here stays here" Las Vegas is not the strip. Always keep in mind that when you are a tourist you only see what they want you to see. If you don't believe in what I'm written I invite you to come and see the true Read More

I don't write nor talk to much. I can only recommend you to do an intensive research about this city before moving here. After fifteen years living in this (Las Vegas) I don't recommend any person with a right mind to relocate here nor bring their family here, especially kids. If you want to experience (Las Vegas) come visited and leave as soon your vacation is over. "What happen in Vegas stays in Vegas" remember when you are a tourist what you see is what they want you to see. The Strip is not Las Vegas. Good Read More

Hi, I have lived in Las Vegas for fifteen years and I can't wait to move out of this city. If any of you read this review I will recommend you to take it seriously. First, if you have kids, don't move here. Las Vegas is famously for Gambling, Prostitution, Drugs and the Mob. Without those four things this city would it be a hole in the dessert. To end this review think this way. The only city in the world, where a person without high school diploma is able to have a Mercedes and afford to pay $1200 apartment. Read More

fun and low cost living ! - 2/27/2013
I moved here from Los Angeles and I can tell you Las Vegas like all cities has its good point’s and bad point’s. No city is perfect so stop looking for that!

First, if you like a lot of entertainment, low cost of living, low taxes, a chance to own a home Las Vegas is the place to be. It is hot here like 4-5 months a year but who doesn’t know that?? I also lived in NY were it snows and it gets 20’ below zero sometimes.. research weather people before you look to move.. this is the desert ! dah!

Crime is about the same in LA compared to Vegas, not worse or not less. So not sure what all the crime talk is about. Living in LA crime is all over the city too, all big cities have crime. If your looking for low crime move to Idaho.

I can tell you living in LA/California is horrible compared to Las Vegas. In Las Vegas you can have fun and have a chance to make it and get a home. I think it’s a better place to live if your single and don’t plan to have a Read More

Educated Non-Smokers Need Not Apply in Las Vegas - 2/8/2013
My Canadian wife and I moved to Las Vegas (from Georgia) last July 2012.
If you work in the field of Education-my wife and I do-Las Vegas is a true dessert. Education is not a priority here. It is not.
Homes are cheap enough. Rent is fairly affordable as well. As it happens everywhere, one must be careful with the area of town one chooses to live in.
If you work in the entertainment industry (read "gambling") your job prospects are decent in Las Vegas. If you have other areas of interest or expertise, expect poor results as there are no major industries in Las Vegas. All we do is mostly confined to the area of service.
Like any of the many thousands of people who come here, either permanently or just for a few days, I wanted to see the Strip and its beautiful casinos. The minute the heat became bearable, we marched there with great curiosity and the desire to have a good time. We were disappointed. The smell of cigarette/tobacco smoke is overpowering inside Read More
