Climate - 1/28/2013
Although the climate here is not as severe as some may think, it probably is a main reason that more people do not live here. I guess that may not be such a bad thing. Summers are quite pleasant close to the lake, and there are various activities . Being situated between Chicago and Milwaukee is also Read More

sleep town - 11/10/2009
I've grown up in Kenosha from the age 11 to 20 and still keep coming back to visit since my parents live in the town. It has completely turned into a sleeping town. For teens there is completely nothing to do, it was one of the most boring and self-destructive towns in that aspect. Now all the old hang out spots have been shut down and there is even less to do. The crime is at an all time low, and the weather is not great. It's usually humid, and either feels to hot or too cold. There are no jobs in the town unless you work at a school, hospital or a retail store. It's a very peaceful town for families with small kids and old people. The school system was terrible after elementary school. I couldn't imagine why anyone would want to live here but people are different so visit first and then decide. If you are a single person it will drive you Read More

Lots of lakefront parks - 3/6/2009
Early planners of the City of Kenosha made sure that there were a number of parks along the shore of Lake Michigan and over the years, there have been many improvements to the lakefront parks. Some of these have beaches, others offer fishing piers, boat launches, marinas, bandshells, bike and walking paths and often feature festivals and other summer events. Harborpark features an open air market on Saturday mornings and has a tot park that includes fountains for splashing in. Harborpark includes museums and a trolly that loops through the neighborhood. The lakefront is the place to be when the weather is Read More

Plenty of snow, ice and cold days in winter. Humi - 1/24/2009
In the 2007-2008 winter, we reached a record high snowfall (2nd highest snowfall ever recorded...the number 1 spot was 100 years ago). This year, we are on track to come very close to last year's record snowfall. If you don't like snow, ice and brutally cold days, this isn't the place for you. We don't get much of a fall or Indian summer. By the time spring rolls around, people break out their shorts and start walking around in the 50-60 degree weather like it's summer! (Yes, there are quite a few nutty people out there that act like it's summer in April!)

In the summer, it can get quite hot and humid - not very enjoyable. It takes a while to reach "summer" temperatures in June, then we usually are slammed with high temperatures and high humidity in July and August. Then in September, it cools off very rapidly and we don't get to enjoy much of an "in-between" time period that isn't too hot and humid, and not too cold. There don't seem to be many days of really Read More

Kenosha, Wisconsin -- Not Just a Place to Visit -- - 9/28/2008
In 1998 Kenosha was voted as one of the top places to bring up your family in the Reader's Digest. Located halfway between Chicago and Milwaukee with train services either way makes commuting a breeze. Kenosha is right off the lake and yet within minutes of camping, hiking, trails and shopping!

Kenosha is one of the nation's fastest growing markets. Ideally located between the two large cities (Chicago and Milwaukee) makes commuting a breeze. The housing market is on a constant increase ... condominiums and new construction continues to pave the way! Many new families come to Kenosha from the Illinois area finding a suitable and "quieter" place to live.

Interest rates are holding at the 6% percentile ... even in this "touch market" buyers are continuing to shop ... we've also seen gas prices coming back down! The selection process for homes is intense finding the home "ready to move right into". There are many lenders offering special loan packages including Read More

Temperate climate. - 12/17/2007
After having lived in Minnesota for 45 years Kenosha offers nice change of climate. Lake Michigan seems to moderate the large temperatures swings we were used to in MN. Another added bonus is the the additional on month of Spring and in the Fall. There are days in the Summer that the temperatures can be in the 90's but if the wind is off the lake a trip downtown to the harbor area can
offer refreshing relief from the heat. We have found the temperature can be as much as 15 degrees cooler at the lake compared to our home, 5 miles west. Snow seldom stays more than a week due to the moderating effect on winter Read More
