As great as it is expensive

One of the most beautiful city/metro areas I've seen. Ample cultural and sports options for almost everybody. Some of the most varied and rich food experiences around. I doubt many places in the country offer a more broad, diverse and competitive higher education system. Excellent place for healthcare, legal and finance related careers. Beautiful beaches and national parks are within day or weekend-trip reach.
However, there are two things I must say. First, to fully enjoy this city and take advantage of everything it offers, you have to have the money. Real estate is ridiculously overpriced, as is parking and anything else that requires any amount of space. Owning a car for example can easily be over $1000/month (car payment, insurance, parking, gas, etc); not to mention half of the advantage of driving is consumed by looking for a place to park.
And the other comment is, in typical New England (and more so Bostonian) attitude, no one will ever go an inch out of their way to help you or even get to know you. Once you break the ice, most people are just as nice as anywhere else. But bring your own heavy-duty icebreaker.
