What is there for young twentysomethings to do in

Full disclosure: I'm a Houston native, so growing up I knew suburbia was boring, but I never realized just how boring until I left for college in New Orleans and then went to graduate school in Austin. Being back in Houston for the summer holidays with my parents has only reinforced my feelings on just how boring this city is for young people.
Sure, if you're a middle-aged parent with kids and are looking for the stereotypical ''American dream'' bedroom community, you'll get it in Houston.
Where are the clubs, the bars, the nightlife, the music scenes? Where are fun places to go out on dates? Certainly, you're not going to get Manhattan, but it would help to not wonder which fast food joint gives you the illusion of community.
In short, this city's ideal for the family-values crowd. Not so much for the young and restless.
