If you like four real seasons as opposed to subtropical weather, you'll get it in NC, in various doses depending on where in this large state you ultimately live. FL, in my book, doesn't light a candle to NC, in spite of NC's inevitable drawbacks. Nothing's perfect on this planet, but some places are nicer than others. Also, these retirement hubs just do not have the character that REAL cities and towns have. This may factor into your decision (are you still there?).
