Basements under houses
Star Rating - 8/5/2014
I was looking at houses that are For Sale in Kings Mountain, Charlotte, Ashville, Greensboro, and Marion.

Why is there no basements under houses? What do people do for Tornado's?

The soil types in NC do not support the building of basements except in very rare circumstances. Go into an interior room, preferably one with no windows and cover yourself with pillows or better yet a mattress and start praying. Fortunately, tornadoes are fairly rare, not like in the Midwest.
