Frustrated & Disappointed

I live in Westborough, Massachusetts with my hunsband and his parents. We were recently married and have been looking for a place to live in The Greater Boston Area for the past year. We are looking for a reasonable 1 bedroom apt for under $1000 dollars per month that will allow a cat and offer either 2 car off street pkg or close to public transportation w/ 1 car pkg. I work as a Medical Assistant and make over 37,000 dollars per year. My husband is planning to go back to school in the fall to get his teaching certification and Masters in Art Education. While he does this he plans to work part time 10-20 hrs per week making approx $16/hr. After searching for several months without success my husband and I are frustrated and disappointed. The only place that we have found in our price range smelled like cat urine (no wonder they allow pets). It seems absurd to my husband and I that two hard working people making a decent wage cannot find an affordable place to live. :(
