If Ir's That Bad, The Mob Should Clean It Up - 10/1/2009
I was considering a move to LV as I have just retired, but the candid and honest comments have me looking elsewhere.
It used to be that Las Vegas was a no-combat zone for the mobsters who agreed to co-exist there.
So why don't they clean up the streets and chase off the penny ante criminals who give the town a bad reputation?
I would not have moved there for the casinos or the gambling, but I can see that sleaze begets sleaze.

Can't wait to get out of here - 8/13/2009
Moved here from New York 11 years ago and still don't like it.. Now I have two childern and hate even more. We are looking to move within 5 years just have to wait until the house market gets better, wonder if that will ever happen. The school system SUCKS here there is only ONE SCHOOL DISTRICT and about 40 kids per class room and NO BUDGET for the SCHOOLS.. and no one in GOVERMENT seems to care about that. They rather cut the budget for education and put the money back into the casinos. Yes it is great to have no state taxes and yes property taxes are cheaper but you know what people that is all about to change... Sales tax in Vegas in now 8.1% and to
register you vehicle will cost you anywhere from $200.00 and up depending on the year and how much you paid for it and it only goes down 10% every year. It is great to live here if you are single or married with no childern and you like the night life other than that why bother. It is my opinion that Las Vegas is not a place

Las Vegas ( Not a good place to raise kids ) - 7/30/2009
I have lived in Las vegas for over 20 years now.
The crime here is as bad. Note the list of children being shot alone. I have a nine year old son, and got on this website to find a new home for us, because of the crime and the education system (probably why the crime is so bad ). If you are considering living here, DON'T!!!! This place is overrun with homeless, (not the family that lost everything)The kind that have made this a career. The stand at freeway off-ramps, turn signal islands, and anywhere they can bum some money. there are so many tourists that fall for the sad faces, that it motivates them to stay. I have seen some of the same bum's for the 20 years plus that I have been here. Vulgar signs on top of all the taxi cabs that you children will be asking you about, or maybe the disgusting graffiti. If you have been here to visit, you have probably not seen what is going on, because the strip is isolated and protected by Metro police. If you must live here for work,

Normally, Las Vegas has a strong economic engine and is a place where people can find a job that pays well enough for them to get ahead. Some challenges during the overall downturn, but I'd bet on Vegas over the
