Used to be affordable. Now overpriced. - 9/6/2020
It is ok. Not great. It used to be worth the cost (4/5 stars). The schools are mediocre, the people are hit or miss. People born here are friendly but passive-aggressive. Newcomers can be really awful. In general, people are people. There is no culture. Aurora is 100% a suburb. They tried to gentrify some of Colfax but the area near Anshutz is so bad it failed. Aurora mall is finally a sprawling strip mall that you cannot get shot at so that is a plus. The reservoir is great and usually not too crowded. Southlands is way too expensive. Housing, unless you have $1 million you will not own a home here anymore. If you do, you might get the Federal/Rino/Aurora special. Your native neighbor might turn out to be a former crip leader who kills someone in self-defense and you almost end up in witness protection. It happened to 2 people I know of. Gentrification and demand from the people who move here thinking they will get an equally high paying job as they had in WA, CA, IL, or NY pay Read More

Overpriced. - 7/19/2020
I've lived here for 10 years, and I gotta say, it's easily one of the most overpriced cities I've ever lived in. The cost of living makes it not worth it to live here, you dont get much for what you pay for. High crime, minor gang activity, and dilapidated neighborhoods, especially in the north part of town. Stay far, far away from Aurora, or at least the northern Read More

For an average to below average less than 800 square feet you will pay at least $100 in Aurora, Colorado. Read More

Meh - 11/1/2017
I have lived in Aurora for most of my life, born and raised and overall I love it. Its situated in a good area, and there is always something to do in the metro area if you get bored. My only grievance is theirs a large influx of people moving to Aurora and Denver, and driving up the housing market and its very expensive to live in Aurora compared to what it was when I was younger.
Not only that it is not the safest area to live, there are a lot of low income neighborhoods with high crime rates, we had a drug dealer living up the street from my old house and it was a nice neighborhood for the area, and people get mugged by my house all the time. Police respond quickly to these situations but there is a crime issue, and people have card skimmers at gas stations pretty frequently so keep an eye for that.
I moved to Washington D.C for school and I am preparing to move back in the next year or two, and I'm just hoping it hasn't declined anymore than it already has. Not Read More

The climate we are a changing... - 8/22/2014
I've only lived here about 6 years but wow what a change the weather has taken. My friend who is from here can't remember when the climate has been so different in so many ways. For one thing about 10 years ago there were NO tornado's here. Now during the summer months mostly around the end of May into the beginning of July there are numerous Tornado alerts. Some have touched down in various areas around Denver and done damage but so far not in Aurora where I'm now living. Normally the winters get at least 2 or 3 really deep snowfalls but in between the weather is cold but beautifully sunny. But this past year we only got a couple snows and it didn't get deep at all. It's amazing how sunny the area is. It seems like almost every day the sun is out. This summer has been extremely strange as well though. Normally July and August are really hot and I mean in the mid to upper 90's even the low hundreds for weeks at a time. But this summer even though we've had hot days almost every Read More

Great place to live - 6/18/2012
Aurora gets a bad rap, some if it deservedly so, but it's still a great place to live in no small part because of the climate. There are a few hot days in the summer, but for the most part it is never uncomfortably hot. Summer is my favorite season because it is so sunny usually and warm. It's a bit windy in the spring, as are all parts of Eastern Colorado. Winters are fine. You get snow from time to time, but there are usually only a few total weeks in the winter where it is truly uncomfortable Read More

Not a bad place to live - 3/2/2012
We came here from southern California via Cheyenne, WY, and have lived here for five years now. I would say nearly everything-- entertainment and cultural venues, educational institutions, eateries, etc.-- about Aurora is OK, average, bordering on just plain boring, not terribly exciting or outstanding in any way at all, but not bad, either. (Oh, the drivers here are completely retarded and drive according to whatever the inner voices tell them to do). Aurora has been a good stopping off place, but we haven't found any convincing reason to stay here in a place this committed to Read More

Sunny Days... - 2/7/2012
It's so great waking up to sunshine almost every day. Even in the winter and it's only 20 degrees out the sun is shining. We have very few overcast depressing days. I'm originally from Seattle and tried to move back there a few years ago and just couldn't handle the overcast dreary days. If the sun energizes you and makes a difference in your outlook this is a great place. This winter has been pretty snowy and chilly but on the days when it's not snowing, the sun is shining bright. The summers are beautiful. My only complaint is that it's pretty dry, so I have a humidifier that I run in the winter since the furnace takes any moisture out of the air. The climate here is pretty ideal if you like the 4 seasons and don't mind the cold winters. Read More
